KML files for the route of Phase 1 of the proposed HS2

A Department for Transport web page provides the post consultation route of the HS2 as a shape file for use with GiS software. A Natural England web page provides shape files describing nature areas such as Ancient Woodlands and SSSIs. With some help from others, I've converted these shape files to KML.

Here are links to several KML files. There are two variants of the KML: one provides detailed information (e.g., showing for each section of the route whether it is a cutting, a tunnel, ...) and the other just shows the route.

KML showing a detailed route KML showing a basic route
just the route (2Mb) just the route (0.9Mb)
the route plus nature areas (15Mb) the route plus nature areas (14Mb)

KML files that include details of nature areas originally didn't cope with the River Blythe SSSI. I got an e-mail from "John" who provided me with the correct versions of the incorrect lines. Thank you John. This website was updated so it generated the new versions of these KML files on June 1st 2021.

You could use these KML files with Google Earth.
