KML files for the preferred route of Phase 2b of the proposed HS2
I have obtained some ESRI shape files from the Department of Transport. These files provide details of the preferred route for Phase 2b of the proposed HS2. The files have been released with the Open Government Licence. They were released in November 2016.
I've converted some aspects of this shape file to KML.
Arguably, the most useful KML file I've derived from the ESRI shape files is one that can be used to display a multi-coloured line whose colours indicate the formation of each section of the route. The following colours are used for the formation: red:cutting; black:tunnel; green:green tunnel (meaning "a cut and cover tunnel"); blue:viaduct; magenta:at grade (meaning "level with nearby land") and yellow:embankment.
I've also produced a KML file that can be used to display the route in a single colour. It has no data about formation.
The following KML files were also derived from the ESRI shape files. However, for these KML files I've done no tampering of the information:
You can use any of these KML files with Google Earth.
