This web page is from www.thehs2.com,
a project to document the HS2.
The underlying map on this page has been obtained from OpenStreetMap.
A multi-coloured line and some cyan coloured lines have been superimposed on the map.
If the multi-coloured line does not appear,
then maybe the proposed HS2 does not pass through the area
shown by the map.
You can use the - button to zoom out.
As explained on this web page,
there are three routes for each leg of Phase 2b.
There's the consultation route (published in 2013),
the preferred route (published in November 2016)
and the confirmed route (published in July 2017).
The multi-coloured line shows a depiction of the preferred route
for Phase 2b of the proposed HS2.
The route on this map should be accurate as it is derived from data provided by the
Department for Transport
in November 2016 for
the preferred route
for Phase 2b.
You may also wish to look at the consultation route for Phase 2b.
There are
separate web pages for showing maps of the route of Phase 1
and the route of Phase 2a.
The multi-coloured line is in sections.
I've used the following colours for the sections:
red: "cutting" |
yellow: "fill" (embankment) |
blue: "viaduct" |
fuchsia: "at grade" |
black: "tunnel" |
(level with nearby land) |
green: "green tunnel" |
|
If you click on a section,
some details about that section will appear.

The generation of this map uses data that has been provided
by www.streetmap.co.uk.
A data.gov.uk web page
provides access to data for the HS2 including the preferred route
for Phase 2b. This data is provided as an ESRI shape file.
It was released on January 7th 2016
with the
Open Government Licence.
I've converted this file to GeoJSON.
This GeoJSON is used to generate the multi-coloured line.
Tweaking the map, printing it or using it on your page
You can use the +/- buttons to zoom in/out, i.e., to
show the map in more/less detail.
And you can hold the mouse down and then drag the mouse

and/or public rights of way,
and altering
the centering of the map,
the width of the map,
the height of the map
and/or
the level of zooming.
Use the following link to
tweak the map.
If you click that link,
you will also find out how to print this map
or use this map on your own web page.
